Enhancing Workplace Efficiency: Walailak University Launches WU Innovation 2026 to Foster Innovations for the Future of Work.
On 25 August 2026, Walailak University, through the Division of Human Resources and Organization, organized WU Innovation SDGs Plus 2026, a platform for presenting innovations and work-process improvements developed by units across the University during Fiscal Year 2026.
Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, presided over the opening ceremony. University executives and staff representing 46 centers, institutes, and other internal units attended the event at the Pattaradhammaporn Meeting Room, Walailak University Medical Center Hospital.
WU Innovation Day has been held for four consecutive years. This year’s event took place from 25 to 27 August 2026, providing a platform for University staff to demonstrate their capabilities in developing innovations and improving work processes to reduce procedural steps, save time, and lower costs.
The 2026 event was organized under the theme “SDGs Plus,” reflecting the University’s commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.
Professor Dr. Sombat stated that the central objective of the event was to enhance operational capabilities across all dimensions. It aimed to encourage staff to rethink, improve, and creatively redesign work processes to reduce procedural steps, shorten turnaround times, and lower costs—ultimately advancing Walailak University toward becoming a high-performance organization.
“Organizing the event under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) theme represents a collective effort to advance Walailak University by enhancing the quality of teaching and learning, research, and internal management so that they better address societal needs and promote environmental sustainability,” Professor Dr. Sombat said.
The THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 assess universities across four key areas: Research, Stewardship, Outreach, and Teaching. The assessment recognizes the role of higher education institutions in contributing to a sustainable world in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
According to results released on 24 June 2026, Walailak University rose to 47th place worldwide and ranked third in Thailand, marking a significant improvement from its global ranking of 93rd in the previous year. The University also placed among the world’s top 30 in four Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 2, SDG 5, SDG 11, and SDG 14.
