Tumpang Stadium Bursts with Excitement as Mhon Thong Wittaya Faces Walailak University
Young football fans and members of the public turned out in large numbers for a special football match between Mhon Thong Wittaya and Walailak University, filling the stands at Tumpang Stadium to capacity. With seats running out, many spectators moved down to the running track surrounding the pitch. The visiting Mhon Thong Wittaya side delivered an impressive performance, securing a commanding 6–0 victory.
The special football match was held on January 26, 2026, at Tumpang Stadium, Walailak University, Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Mhon Thong Wittaya was led by Sakon Kliangprasert, with key playmaker Witthaya Bangnampriao, popularly known as “Tae”, wearing jersey number 6 and playing a pivotal role for the team.
The match was officially opened by Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, who presided over the opening ceremony.
The match attracted a remarkable crowd, with fans arriving to watch the game free of charge. The turnout exceeded the seating capacity of the stadium, forcing some spectators to watch from the running track around the field.
Many parents and young football fans said they had traveled from various areas of Nakhon Si Thammarat and neighboring provinces specifically to support Mhon Thong Wittaya, with particular excitement surrounding young star “Tae”. Some fans arrived as early as noon to secure a good viewing spot.
The atmosphere inside the stadium was lively throughout the event. Many supporters proudly wore Mhon Thong Wittaya jerseys and passionately cheered for the team, creating an energetic and memorable atmosphere for both the players and spectators.
Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, said the match provided an excellent opportunity for Walailak University students to train and test their skills against a high-quality team recognized at the national level, such as Mhon Thong Wittaya.
“From an educational perspective, we may be the seniors because we compete at the university level. However, in the sporting arena, we must acknowledge that although Mhon Thong Wittaya competes at the upper-secondary school level, the team’s football skills and tactical ability are truly outstanding. More importantly, this match aims to promote unity and inspire young people in the local community by providing them with a positive example of dedication, determination, and commitment to excellence,” Professor Dr. Sombat said.
The match ended with Mhon Thong Wittaya demonstrating why they are considered one of the country’s leading youth football teams, defeating Walailak University by a decisive 6–0 score, amid enthusiastic cheers from the crowd throughout the match.
