Walailak University Executives Sign Annual Performance Commitment for Fiscal Year 2024
On May 15, 2024, Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, Acting President of Walailak University, along with 56 senior executives—including Vice Presidents, Assistant Presidents, Deans, Directors, and Heads of Departments—participated in the signing ceremony for the Annual Performance Commitment for Fiscal Year 2024. The ceremony, held at the Hua Thaphan Conference Room, Chulabhorn Hospital, Walailak University Medical Center, symbolized a collective pledge to achieve the university’s development goals.
Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong emphasized that the signing of the performance commitment mirrors the practices of government agencies that prepare similar commitments to enhance operational efficiency. While Walailak University is not a government agency but a state-supervised institution, such ceremonies hold significant importance as they serve as documented evidence in the annual report and motivate all units to achieve their agreed-upon objectives. He expressed gratitude to the 48 units’ leaders for their pivotal roles in driving the university’s progress and enhancing its competitiveness.
This year, Walailak University was ranked 501-600 globally in the Young University Rankings 2024 and improved its position to 501-600 in the THE Asia University Rankings 2024. Globally, the university climbed to the 1201-1500 range in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024, with expectations that its global ranking will continue to improve by 2025.
Walailak University places great importance on establishing strategic indicators and operational targets at both policy and implementation levels. The performance commitments are designed as a pledge to pursue and achieve the university’s goals across all levels, from the University Council and President, to the Vice Presidents, Assistant Presidents, and Heads of Departments, encompassing a total of 48 units.
