Walailak University Ranked 501+ in THE Asia University Rankings 2025, Climbing to Joint 8th Place in Thailand

On April 23, 2025, at 11:00 PM, Times Higher Education (THE) officially announced the results of the THE Asia University Rankings 2025 via its website www.timeshighereducation.com. Walailak University was ranked in the 501–600 range out of 853 universities across Asia. Within Thailand, the university improved its position from 12th to joint 8th place, among 20 institutions that met the ranking criteria.

This achievement reflects Walailak University’s strong performance across 18 indicators in five key areas. In this year’s assessment, the university scored highest in Research Quality, followed by International OutlookTeachingIndustry Income, and Research Environment, respectively.

In the overall Asia rankings, Tsinghua University in China maintained its position as No.1 in Asia, while National University of Singapore ranked No.1 in ASEAN and 3rd in Asia. In Thailand, Chulalongkorn University secured the top spot, followed by Mahidol University and King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi.

Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University, stated that the university was previously ranked 1201+ globally in the THE World University Rankings 2025, and 6th in Thailand, placing it among the country’s leading institutions. In the THE Young University Rankings, Walailak was ranked 501+ globally. In terms of sustainable development, the university was ranked 101–200 globally in the THE Impact Rankings, with standout positions of 3rd globally in Stewardship and 4th globally in Outreach.
