Walailak University Holds Workshop with Four University Committees to Gather Input for the University Strategic Development Plan 2028–2032
Walailak University organized a preparatory meeting for the development of its Five-Year University Strategic Development Plan for B.E. 2571–2575 (2028–2032) under the project “WU NEXT: The Next Step Toward Sustainability.” The meeting aimed to advance the university toward its ultimate goal of becoming a “Sustainable World-Class University (WU^S)” and was held during 20–21 May 2026.
On the morning of the first day, the meeting focused on reviewing the university’s performance under the previous strategic plan, as well as analyzing the broader systemic environment, including economic, social, and technological factors, together with key trends affecting university administration in the future. These included budgetary constraints and the declining school-age population. The meeting was jointly attended by five university standing committees: the Personnel Administration Committee, the Finance and Assets Committee, the Monitoring and Evaluation Committee, the Risk Management Oversight Committee, and the Audit Committee. The meeting took place at the Moklan Meeting Room, Professor Dr. Wichit Srisa-an Building.
In the afternoon session, external expert members from four university committees, namely the Personnel Administration Committee, the Finance and Assets Committee, the Monitoring and Evaluation Committee, and the Risk Management Oversight Committee, conducted site visits to key infrastructure facilities and learning resources of the university. These sites reflected the university’s potential in knowledge development, research, and innovation, alongside the development of learning support systems and quality of life within the university. The visited sites included the Smart Farm, clean energy projects, the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Natural History Museum (SIRIN Museum), and Walailak University Medical Center Hospital.
On the second day, the meeting featured presentations and discussions on the draft framework of the Five-Year University Strategic Development Plan. More than 70 participants attended, including external expert committee members from four university committees and university executives. The information and recommendations obtained from the meeting, together with feedback gathered from stakeholders through questionnaires, will be used to refine the draft strategic plan. The revised draft will then be submitted to the Committee for the Preparation of Walailak University’s Strategic Development Plan B.E. 2571–2575 (2028–2032), and subsequently presented at a Retreat meeting with the University Council and university executives in September 2026. It will then be proposed for approval by the University Council, before being used as a framework for the preparation of annual action plans.
This activity marks another important step in defining the direction of Walailak University’s development over the next five years. It emphasizes participation from all sectors in jointly driving the university toward academic excellence, efficient management, and stable and sustainable development.
